Controller Placement Problem (CPP) Based on POCO Solution for the Algerian Research Network Topology

The Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a new network paradigm, that is proposed to overcome the weaknesses of traditional networks. SDN revolutionizes network technology by breaking the fundamental idea of traditional networks in which the control plane is completely decoupled from the data plane. The practical aim of SDN is to make networks programmable via a centralized controller called a controller. In this paper, the study focuses on addressing the controller placement problem (CPP), in which placement of multiple controllers at specific locations as well as network segmentation is necessary to ensure network scalability while maintaining performance. The CPP is a critical issue in SDN, as it directly affects the performance and efficiency of SDN Controllers. We propose and implement the POCO (Pareto -optimal) solution on the ARN (Algerian Research Network) topology to tackle this challenging problem.
