The Limit of Direct Modulation in an FTTH/GPON Architecture
摘要
Optical fiber has just made a remarkable entry into the access network where it is effectively replacing the twisted copper pair. As soon as GPON technology is installed, and faced with the exponential needs of customers in terms of bandwidth, it seems necessary to study this segment of the telecommunications network in order to better deal with this reality. In fact, increasing the speed of optical fibers will require to take account of phenomena in this part of network. Based on a functional FTTH/GPON network, the customer’s optical line will be simulated using Optisystem software, trying to be as close as possible to the characteristics of real optical line. By increasing the data rate on the optical line thus constituted, the limit of direct modulation with NRZ coding could be found.
