Using the OpenFOAM Package for Modeling Turbulent Gas Flow in a Shaped Pipe
摘要
The present article is concerned with modeling a turbulent gas flow in a pipe with an expanding section. A brief comparative analysis of packages for solving problems of computational fluid dynamics has been conducted. Particular attention has been paid to creating a computational mesh in the Gmsh program. The visualization of the research results has been obtained using the third-party software ParaView, designed for interactive visualization and processing of large data sets using parallel computing. The results of solving a three-dimensional problem of modeling the turbulent gas flow process in a shaped pipe have been obtained using the free and open-source package OpenFOAM. Based on the results of working with the packages, they were compared in terms of functionality, presented on the slide. All of the above hydrodynamics packages find their application in industrial areas. The calculations have been performed on the cluster of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, and based on the analysis of experimental data, a conclusion about the temperature distribution at the outlet of the shaped pipe has been made.
