This chapter examines external optical modulation techniques for generating MW and MMW signals. It describes MZM and PolM, analyzes RF generation in MZM with an external drive signal, and illustrates the effects of different DC operating points. Jones matrices for key polarization components are also presented. Simulations in OptiSystem® and ADS® demonstrate how these devices generate RF signals in the MW and MMW ranges.

摘要

This chapter examines external optical modulation techniques for generating MW and MMW signals.
