Contextualization: Recent studies have shown the growing need for sustainable finance in advancing the performance of companies, emphasizing the role of sustainable finance as a catalyst for attracting investments. Additionally, scholarly works have examined the interconnection between sustainable finance and CSR (which is commonly known as corporate social responsibility), governance, and the financial performance of the company. The pivotal importance of sustainable/green finance in the pursuit of achieving performance of company performance has engendered the emergence of a nascent research avenue, which is progressively gaining momentum. Objective of Study: This study offers an extensive overview of a collection of research studies centered around the concept of sustainable/green finance and the important part played by sustainable finance in enhancing the performance of the company by engaging in CSR, governance, and using green finance investment options. The first objective of this paper is to discern the present status of existing research within the area of sustainable/green finance, identify the most influential journals in this domain, pinpoint the most prolific researchers in this field, and highlight the thematic elements that influence the intellectual landscape. Furthermore, this paper endeavors to propel sustainable finance research forward by recognizing existing research lacunae and proposing potential research avenues that warrant exploration. Methodology: The present study is a bibliometric analysis-based chapter to delve into the identification of major research trends like collaborative work amongst nations and authors, citation of the research work, co-reference of authors, and co-occurrence patterns within the domain of sustainable/green finance. A comprehensive dataset comprising 1338 academic publications sourced by using the renowned databases of Scopus and Web of Science. The time frame for data collection was from the years 1997 to 2023. This data set has been meticulously examined and analyzed. Findings: This present study identifies major researchers, topmost publications, most productive countries in terms of intensity of research, collaborative institutions across the nations, major research themes and focal points, and the latest identified trends associated with the study of sustainable finance. Biblioshiny, used for data analysis and visualization of sustainable finance, continues to be an emerging research issue for the better performance of companies.
