Evaluating Indian Modern Port Facilities to Optimize Cargo Handling and Improve Efficiency
摘要
The Indian port sector is akin to the engine that drives the nation’s economic growth and international trade competitiveness. Despite navigating through challenges such as insufficient infrastructure, ineffective cargo handling, and regulatory bottlenecks, it persists in unlocking its full potential. This research aims to delve into the impact of cutting-edge port facilities on revolutionizing cargo handling efficiency and operational effectiveness at prominent Indian ports. This study uncovers and addresses crucial research voids by meticulously examining operational data and key performance indicators. These gaps encompass the undervaluation of existing infrastructure, ineffective space exploitation, lack of technological assimilation, and regulatory constraints. Leveraging a blended methodology, the research seamlessly merges quantitative data analysis techniques such as correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and descriptive statistics with qualitative insights. The investigation underscores the vital importance of capacity expansion infrastructure, enhancements in adopting automation and digitalization, process streamlining, and regulatory reforms to boost cargo handling efficiency and overall port performance. By addressing the identified challenges and implementing the proposed recommendations, this study endeavors to enhance the operational efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainable growth of the Indian maritime sector, thereby fostering economic development and strengthening India’s position in the global supply chain.
