Review of Regulatory Framework for Hydrogen Ecosystem and Identification of Gap in Existing Regulations

The shift to hydrogen economy is gradually gaining popular across the world owing to the prospects of incorporating hydrogen as a clean energy. Small-scale hydrogen blending has been recognized as a promising first step; however, the strategy must be backed up by extensive regulation and cooperation with other participants in the market. Hydrogen Strategies have emerged as the vital documents for hydrogen transition in the countries thus understanding best practices from other countries will help overcome the regulatory and or technological barriers. This review analyses the existing global regulatory environment to hydrogen ecosystem, the issues that the existing regulations have left unaddressed, and the analysis of hydrogen blending plans in India. This review also discusses components of these regulatory frameworks special attentions to the storage and transportation of Hydrogen.
