The Glocal Network of Leading E-Commerce Companies: A Comparative Analysis of Amazon in Spain and Mercado Libre in Argentina Through Logistics Corridors
摘要
The restructuring of production in the twenty-first century redefines the relationships between socio-productive agents and leads to the deployment of networks that materialise in the use of regional urban space. Thus, the understanding of territorial processes such as the opening and expansion of markets, the redistribution of labour and comparative advantages in localisation is currently gaining strength. The advance of e-commerce marketing systems (accelerated during the pandemic) requires physical spaces that guarantee storage close to cities and the rapid circulation of products and services on a ‘glocal’ (global and local) scale. These spaces, whether private, public, or mixed, take the form of large real estate developments in the strategic areas where they are located. This chapter explores the agents that produce and reproduce these spaces, the factors of localisation, the reconversion of land use and the models of storage organisation, etc. The objective is to compare the characteristics of case studies in two different countries: Amazon along the Henares Corridor in Spain and Mercado Libre in the Cordoba-Rosario-Buenos Aires Corridor in Argentina, to identify points of convergence and divergence in the different aspects analysed.
