This chapter addresses the contributions of a prominent figure from interwar Romania, Nichifor Crainic. It seeks to elucidate the substantial connection that appears to exist between the symbolic framework he formulates to delineate Romanian identity and the social and political systems he advocates for this envisioned community. Given that the construction of identity inherently involves both the inclusion of what is perceived as similar and the exclusion of what is characterized as different, a secondary emphasis will be placed on the antisemitic discourse that Crainic articulates and its alignment with the essentialist perspective he posits.
