This chapter seeks to reconstruct the symbolic boundaries that Nae Ionescu establishes to characterize Romanianness. What collection of symbols is deemed significant for fostering a sense of community? Secondly, considering the interconnected nature of the social realm, we aim to explore how this symbolic framework influences the political solutions he advocated. How does the individual fit within the state? What is the connection between citizenship and the national community? Lastly, recognizing that identity formation entails incorporating perceived similarities while excluding deemed differences, we will focus on the antisemitic rhetoric Ionescu employed and how it aligns with the essentialist perspective he promoted.
