Industrial engineering and its methods of improvement are nothing new in industrial practice in Slovakia. This issue is constantly developing, shaping, and being used to improve processes, products, and services. Considering the analysis of the mentioned issue, many experts came to the conclusion that very few enterprises in Slovakia use professional and scientific methods of innovation and improvement, or that these methods are not correctly applied in business practice. It is mostly about the application of simpler improvement methods aimed more at slimming down and not at the effective use of mathematical and statistical methods. The aim of the contribution is to point out the important role of activating teaching methods in the teaching process in vocational training and to justify their use already in secondary vocational schools in preparation for universities.
