The Semantic Change of the Term “Economy”
摘要
The history of economic thought usually gives the impression that the development of this science is a series of errors. It is pretended that economic thinkers, from ancient times to the present day, have always worked on the same subject. Scientific progress is expressed in the fact that, during continued conceptual refinement and the use of more sophisticated formal procedures, ever better answers are obtained to problems that have existed since the beginning. This “absolutist” attitude assumes a constancy and continuity of the cognition object, the economy, without ever revealing the criteria by which the progress of knowledge is judged.
