As part of an extensive experimental campaign for a post-Panamax 6750 TEU containership, open water tests were conducted for two propellers, selected based on stern clearance limitations. The first was a Wageningen B-series stock propeller, while the second was a controllable pitch propeller. In this study, numerical simulations of the tests were performed at a scale of 35.18 using the commercial software STAR-CCM+. The mathematical model is based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and the Realizable k-epsilon turbulence model is used for the closure of the governing equations. Simulations employed the moving reference frame method for the simulation of the rotating propeller. The numerical results were verified for grid size to obtain the numerical uncertainty. Open water curves, including thrust and torque coefficients, and open water efficiency, were presented and validated against the experimental data.
