This paper has two objectives related to using AI generative tools for research and education: a) exploring the opinion of a group of students on this matter and b) sharing our experience in AI-assisted methods to design various question types for online evaluation. Teachers can ethically use AI, among other activities, to prepare courses and design enhanced online assessment question databases. In this way, we can generate a large enough database of questions to ensure a wide variety of topics are covered and prevent repetitions among different students’ questions. We developed and implemented a Moodle quiz questionnaire for students and collected their opinions on using AI during their work. We analyzed the students’ answers to understand their level of awareness regarding the ethical implications of using AI during academic activities. We share these results in the second part of our paper.
