This chapter follows AI/ChatGPT as the sensation that requires both political stance and professional critical debate. The debate in spring 2023 is maintained for the spontaneous enthusiasm for a ChatGPT, which as a ‘technological quantum leap’ questions the conventional knowledge reproduction of the education system. University management, trade unions, cultural and educational institutions share the AI enthusiasm. But they also share the concern for the academic workforce and ChatGPT’s ability to pass exams that require innovations at all levels. ChatGPT in particular requires official institutional action, where the fear of exam cheating means ‘ban’, even if a far-sighted regulation of AI technologies is preferable for some. The chapter’s analytical review identifies the pro-and-contra themes of the public debates and the authoritative and professional voices are maintained on the arguments and their basis. IT expertise is maintained in its function as the authoritative first voice of the debate, and criticism of the reproducing knowledge institutions is followed to the door. But through this, the analysis also highlights how Techno-logos as a common sounding board smooths out an otherwise clarifying distinction between ‘information’ and ‘knowledge’ and postpones taking a position on basic academic skills for loss of precision.

摘要
