The Tertiary Survey
摘要
The tertiary survey is a complete head to toe physical exam performed around 24 h after traumatic injury or before discharge (if discharge is sooner than 24 h) with the purpose of detecting injuries that were not identified during the primary or secondary survey. The tertiary survey provides the opportunity to reassess identified injuries and confirm or exclude suspected injuries. It should ideally be performed in an awake, coherent and non-obtunded patient. It also serves as an opportunity to review labs, evaluate final radiology reads, and address any incidental findings on imaging.
