This study presents a systematic literature review on the adoption of emerging technologies at the organizational level. Following Okoli’s framework we analyzed 48 articles published in journals belonging to AJG ranking. The review identifies key adoption factors and examines how these, along with the organizational, technological, environmental and individual dimensions, are distributed across the pre-adoption, adoption, and post-adoption phases, following Damanpour and Schneider’s work (2006). While existing literature has extensively explored the pre- and post-adoption stages, the adoption phase remains relatively underexplored. Moreover, although the post-adoption phase has received some attention, few studies investigate how emerging technologies become routinized and fully integrated into organizational practices. This review contributes a structured overview of the adoption process over time and offers both theoretical and practical insights to support the adoption process, while also providing directions for future research.
