The author set about figuring out why people think he is an interculturalist. He concluded: "I came up with several skill sets, bits of knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and experiences, and a funny accent that people associate with me being an interculturalist. How did I acquire these aptitudes and attitudes? I read a lot and listened to several interculturalists. I participated in courses and workshops. But most importantly, I experienced several encounters in life and obsessively ruminated about them. Living and thinking were my major learning techniques. I have a passion for brooding over my experiences. (Incidentally, this behavior pattern has nothing to do with my culture.)"
