It is common that novice teachers, lacking experience and guidance, often struggle in designing effective lesson plans. However, with the assistance of Artificial Technology (AI) tools, they can now compensate for their weaknesses. The impetus of this study was to unpack how novice EFL teachers could leverage these tools to create lesson plans. Data was collected through a questionnaire designed to seek aptitude and readiness in incorporating AI to prepare lesson plans from forty novice teachers. Furthermore, interviews focused on their lesson planning were conducted to assess whether the outcome was satisfying. The results revealed a common agreement among them on AI’s appreciable usefulness in streamlining lesson planning. These tools support the creation of drills, images, and activities and visual aid templates based on teachers’ original ideas. However, teachers still need to adapt AI-suggested materials to fit learning styles and students’ varied competencies and reconsolidate the plan to make a hybrid and personalized final one. The recommendations focus on the teachers’ aspiration for continuous self-advancement of AI literacy, yet they should employ AI-offered content cautiously to ensure students’ accuracy and suitability.
