Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the hottest buzzwords in the technology world today. With the continuous development of information technology, AI has become an important factor in most fields, including the translation industry. As a powerful assistant to humans, AI has had very positive impacts on the development of the translation industry. This chapter sheds light on the role of AI in translation, as well as the benefits and challenges it brings to educators and learners. Combining both quantitative and qualitative methods through questionnaires, interviews and translation quality evaluation, the study was conducted with the participation of 100 students from translation classes I directly taught at Vietnam National University (VNU). The findings revealed that the use of AI in translation practices brought both benefits and challenges to educators and learners. Some of the potential and prospects of AI translation can be mentioned such as higher speed, more complex language translation, and application in many disciplinary fields. However, some undeniable challenges are lack of ability to translate naturally and lack of contextual awareness. Despite numerous obstacles remaining to overcome, the advancement of AI will present numerous prospects and chances and support university educators in their translation teaching.
