The chapter explores the way in which space is visually framed in Norman Rockwell’s paintings in the 1940s through 1960s. I argue that, under the propaganda umbrella, Rockwell created a space in which war is represented from a utopian perspective, yet correlated with the concept of freedom and American values. The chapter discusses the ways in which Rockwell combines war aspects with the core American values (mainly in the Four Freedoms) against a utopian space and how he manages to integrate space in, or open it to, the American Dream.
