Risk Assessment Study on Ship Accidents at Port of Tanjung Pelepas
摘要
The port of Tanjung Pelepas handled one million TEUs in the first 571 days of operations, creating a world record as the fastest growing container port. The port became operational in October 1999 and was officially launched in March 2000 ( PTP. Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (2020). https://www.ptp.com.my/ Accessed May 2023). High demand at the port of Tanjung Pelepas causes heavy traffic flow that may increase marine accidents. Intensive maritime activities increase the risk of ship accidents. This research aims to conduct a risk assessment on ship accidents at the port of Tanjung Pelepas that can be used further to reduce the risk of accidents. The objectives are to identify the existing hazard that causes ship accidents and evaluate the most potential hazards. The Hazzard Identification (HAZID) method has been used for this research's first objective to identify the existing hazard that causes ship accidents. Evaluation and ranking of the most potential hazards were done using the risk matrix method. After ranking the hazards, this research recommends a possible solution to lower the probability of ship accidents. In conclusion, this research will aid the industry in managing and lowering the risks associated with port operations. It also is concluded that most of the hazards at the port of Tanjung Pelepas are controllable and can be reduced. This research contributed to improving the safety of operations in PTP.
