Filler Agents: Overview
摘要
At the beginning of the 1970s, bovine collagen was the first injectable filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. Since then, several products have been produced for soft tissue augmentation. During the past 10 years, there has been a significant increase in the number of medications approved by the FDA and the number of patients looking for these therapies. In 2012, the United States of America witnessed the completion of around two million soft tissue filler treatments, which both medical professionals and nurse injectors carried out. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the agent that is utilized the most commonly in the United States, accounting for 87% of all soft tissue filler treatments. Since 2004, there has been a 38% rise in the use of HA. HA has emerged as the filler that is preferred the most worldwide. It is important to note that not all injectables are made equal, and no filler is perfect, nor is there a single filler that can fulfill the desires and aspirations of every single patient.
