Occupational skin diseases (OSD) rank among the top most common occupational diseases. The majority of OSD are cases of occupational contact dermatitis (OCD), in which irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) is mostly seen. The presented chapter focuses on preventive measures (primary, secondary, and tertiary) for ICD. By this, examples of preventive measures for daily practice are provided. Further, occupations at high risk for developing ICD, mostly of the hands, are addressed as well as the recent special impact by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the future, it must be assumed that prevention may become an even more important stronghold for dermatology. Dermatologists—in cooperation with other professions, such as health educationalists—can in many cases save their patients’ health and jobs due to their specific knowledge and competences.
