Turbulent Jets
摘要
A jet is the flow generated by a continuous sourceContinuous source of momentum. The Reynolds numberReynolds numberjet of a jet can be conveniently defined as \( Re = \frac{ u_o D }{\nu } \) where \( u_o \) = jet velocity; D = jet diameter; \( \nu \) = kinematic viscosity of the fluid. Experiments have shown that if Re exceeds about 2000, the jet flow will be turbulent. In most problems of concern to the engineer, the Reynolds number would be large and the jet flow will be turbulent.
