Competence is a concept studied by a variety of disciplines (psychology, linguistics, sociology, education sciences, etc.). Each contributes to its understanding with its own perspectives and elements of analysis. In this chapter, competence is defined as a set of skills and abilities that an individual or group can apply in a particular context. We are referring here not only to technical skills, but also to transversal and distinctive skills, often categorized as 'soft skills' These competences are particularly important because they allow individuals and organisations to adapt to rapidly changing professions and evolving work  practices. They also help address the challenges brought about by the digital economy and the growing role of artificial intelligence. Within the education sector, it is widely acknowledged that training programs should be developed around the concept of competence. In a rapidly changing world, it is essential to establish strong conncections between educational institutions and economic actors. In Africa, this collaboration is particularly crucial in the logistics and transport sector, to develop the skills and capabilities that will enable companies to participate fully in the economic dynamics of an open and competitive global environment. In light of these challenges, international partnerships can be strengthened. Such partnerships should form the core of a development aid system grounded in the pursuit of synergies that create mutual benefits for all stakeholders. .
