The Last Decade (2013–2023): Research on Educational Leadership and Management in Latin America and the Caribbean
摘要
Research on Educational Leadership and Management (EDLM) has traditionally been dominated by scholars from economically developed regions but has recently grown in developing societies, including Latin America. The purpose of the present review of research is to understand the trends of EDLM knowledge production in Latin American and The Caribbean. I conducted a ‘topographical review’ of articles published in eight ‘core’ journals in EDLM in the last ten years (2013–2023). Results indicated that the region, despite a low baseline in educational leadership, is quickly advancing in high-quality international publications, signaling progress in EDLM. Chile dominates EDLM knowledge production in Latin America, raising concerns about whether international perspectives reflect the entire region or just Chile. Addressing geographic imbalance and diverse topical foci is essential to increase the knowledge base of EDLM of Latin America and the Caribbean.
