Concerted Actions for BIM Training as Part of a National Digital Transition Plan: A Case Study
摘要
Training is a cornerstone of the upskilling needed to support the digital transformation of the construction sector. The Quebec government, which aims to promote and structure the implementation of BIM in public projects in a progressive manner through the Government Roadmap for BIM published in August 2021, recognizes the importance of a diversified, comprehensive, and coherent training offering that meets the needs of the industry. To coordinate the development of such a training offer in Quebec, the industry, educational institutions, and public contracting authorities have set themselves a four-stage work plan: list existing BIM training courses, survey the industry’s skills needs, identify shortcomings in the current training offer, and establish typical training paths. This study reports on the first of these four steps, i.e., listing existing BIM training in Quebec. The data collected allows us to draw conclusions that will help us understand the current state of BIM education in the province.
