Irrigation water management is an essential strategy for improving saline-alkaline soils and increasing agricultural productivity in arid and semi-arid regions. Excessive accumulation of salts and alkalinity in the soil leads to reduced fertility, decreased soil permeability, and limitations in plant growth. This study examines effective irrigation water management methods to mitigate the negative effects of soil salinity and alkalinity. Key strategies include the use of modern irrigation methods such as drip and smart irrigation, ensuring the supply of quality water, improving drainage to prevent salt accumulation, applying soil amendments like agricultural gypsum, and implementing continuous monitoring and assessment programs. Additionally, educating and raising awareness among farmers plays a crucial role in the proper application of these techniques. The success of these measures requires sufficient investment, governmental support, and the application of advanced technical knowledge. Ultimately, sustainable water and soil resource management, as a long-term strategy, will not only improve the soil quality but also enhance agricultural production and reduce environmental risks.
