Study on the Influencing Factors of Thermal Comfort in Outdoor (Scenic) Public Spaces for Playgroups in Chongqing Regions of China

Outdoor public spaces in urban tourist attractions are important places for visitor experience. A good thermal environment has a significant impact on visitors' health and well-being. In order to explore the thermal comfort of visitors in outdoor public spaces of scenic spots in hot summer and cold winter areas, this study selected the public activity space of the Magikou Scenic Spot in Shapingba, Chongqing, China, as the study site, and used meteorological measurements and questionnaires to investigate the thermal perceptions (thermal sensation, thermal comfort, and thermal acceptability) of the visitors in the space. RayMan software was used to calculate the physiologically equivalent temperature (PET) as the thermal benchmark for the respondents. Results indicate that the neutral PET in summer was 23.0 °C, neutral PET range was 17.0 °C-29.1 °C, and 80% of the visitors had a thermally acceptable PET range of ≤ 32.5 °C in summer.31.2% of visitors chose to drink cold drinks to relieve discomfort in hot outdoor environments. This study can more effectively evaluate the factors influencing outdoor thermal comfort in Chongqing during summer, providing a reliable and scientific basis for improving the thermal environment quality of public outdoor spaces of the Ciqikou Scenic Area in Chongqing.
