Mountain traditional villages are an important part of China’s rural areas, carrying rich historical and cultural connotations and unique regional features. Under the background of urban renewal, the protection and renewal of the landscape style of traditional mountain villages with regional and cultural characteristics has become an urgent problem to be solved. This paper takes Shexi Village in Qianjiang District of Chongqing as a typical case of traditional mountain villages. Through the investigation and analysis of the current situation of Shexi Village’s morphological texture and architectural style, the basic principle is to improve the quality of life of indigenous people and retain the authenticity of the local area. A multi-level protection and renewal strategy is proposed for the protection of the morphological texture of Shexi Village. The traditional villages are divided into three levels: core protection area, construction control area and style coordination area, and appropriate and appropriate texture continuation strategies and schemes are developed for the three areas. According to the characteristics of the traditional architectural features of Shexi Village, the traditional buildings are classified and updated, and the corresponding architectural features protection and renewal strategies and schemes are customized. It aims to inject new vitality into the sustainable development of Shexi Village, and also provide reference and inspiration for the renewal and protection of other traditional mountain villages.
