The climate crisis, driven by global warming, environmental degradation, and resource depletion, exacerbates social inequalities, particularly in communities already vulnerable to climate change. Despite the growing recognition of the experiences and skills women contribute to development and environmental sustainability efforts, women continue to exhibit lower capabilities and heightened exposure to climate vulnerabilities due to their diminished influence in politics, the economy, and the law. Women in South and East Asia encounter distinctive challenges, including constrained access to resources, displacement, and elevated susceptibility to climate-related disasters. The chapter analyzes how gendered power dynamics influence the impacts of and responses to climate change and highlights the importance of integrating gender-sensitive approaches into climate policy. This chapter explores the intersection of the climate crisis and gender, highlighting how environmental challenges disproportionately affect women and marginalized gender groups, and examines case studies and global frameworks for promoting equitable and sustainable climate solutions.
