Invasive species are a global threat to ecosystems and trigger a chain of the ecological and economic consequences. They disrupt biodiversity, destabilize ecosystems, and reduce agricultural productivity by replacing native vegetation, altering ecological interactions and habitats, as well as altering food webs, eventually declining fish, birds, and animal populations. For fish, these plants destroy their aquatic habitat and lower the water quality. Also, the disruptions harm birds and animal populations by changing food chains, behaviour, and disproportionately affecting native wildlife. The decline of keystone species and degradation of ecosystem services like water filtration and carbon sequestration make these impacts even worse. In this chapter, emphasis has been given on the impacts of invasive alien plants on the fishes, birds, and animal species present in the urban ecosystems. Management of these plants is necessary to prevent destructive ecological, economic, and social impacts. Therefore, in the latter half of the chapter, appropriate management approaches and scenarios have been highlighted. There is a need for a holistic approach that combines mechanical, biological, and chemical control with restoration, good governance, and community engagement. By doing so, we can conserve biodiversity, restore balance, and sustain our ecosystems for future generations.
