Invasive alien plant species (IAPS) are non-native plants introduced to new environments where they can cause significant harm to ecosystems, economies, and human well-being. These species are recognized as major drivers of biodiversity loss and can alter ecosystem services and socio-economic conditions. Urban ecosystems provide particular difficulties in the management of IAPS because of their diverse habitats, increased connectedness, and disruptions. To control IAPS in urban ecosystems, this chapter discusses developing technology, management strategies, and regulatory issues. IAPS has the potential to seriously disrupt ecological processes, lower biodiversity, hinder agriculture, harm infrastructure, and result in large financial losses. Proactive steps, early identification, and prompt action, as well as integrated approaches such as biological, chemical, mechanical, and physical control measures adapted to the species and habitat are necessary for effective management. Policies and laws offer frameworks for IAPS prevention and control. Public education initiatives, adaptable, context-specific tactics, and an inclusive decision-making process are necessary for success. Moreover, this chapter discusses different methods to control alien species e.g., chemical methods, physical methods, biological methods, integrated GIS techniques, and public awareness. It can be easier to establish and enforce policies when they are transparent, decentralized, and span several sectors. In conclusion, urban ecosystems may reduce ecological and economic risks while maintaining ecosystem services through integrated, adaptive IAPS management that incorporates stakeholder input, suitable control systems, supporting policies, and public participation.
