In this chapter you will find different platforms, both for private and public purposes. While the original chapter was written in 2019, now we are seeing in 2025 new competitors popping up and other platforms which have become less relevant. In the original work, we were still talking about Ethereum which made us of proof of work, Bitcoin with low throughput, first generation DAGs such as the older version of IOTA and others. Nowadays, we are seeing the new version of Ethereum, the new implementations on Bitcoin, but also the rise of Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche, Celestia, Aptos, Sui and others.
