Closed-Loop SVPWM Control System for ANPC Inverter

The paper shows a simulation of a three-level Active Neutral-Point-Clamped (ANPC) inverter controlled by Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) using closed loop control. The ANPC inverter model as well as the SVPWM generation and closed loop control were made using Matlab/Simulink application the research focuses on the explanation of the SVPWM control method and unique implementation challenges in an ANPC type inverter compared to conventional topologies. The analysis of SVPWM contains reference voltage vector synthesis, sector identification, duty cycle calculation. The study highlights key differences in applying SVPWM to ANPC inverters, particularly in handling voltage balancing using different switch states as they can be used to reduce power loss, affect the output frequency, and/or affect switch utilization. Simulation provides insights into optimizing SVPWM for ANPC inverters in different applications, such as solar energy systems, EV charging etc.
