The preceding chapter introduced a basic model of channel interactions and their security properties. The present chapter zooms in on communication channels. This brings into focus the problem of authentication security. We briefly discuss authentication protocols. It turns out that authentication is not a property of channel histories, but a hyperproperty: a family of properties. The discussion about authentication opens up the vast area of protocol security.
