Segment of a Dislocation Subjected to Stress Field
摘要
In the model used in this book, only edge dislocations directly form a process zone, while screw dislocations do not. However, screw dislocations contribute indirectly by bending, which introduces an edge component to the Burgers vector. This edge component initiates the process zone, making the bending energetically favorable. For an edge dislocation segment, bending generates a screw component, which in turn reduces the size of the process zone, increases line tension, and limits dislocation deflection. This section presents several examples to illustrate these phenomena (Korzhenevskii and Lisachenko 1988).
