Formation of Plastic Instability
摘要
Forming a process zone reduces the free energy of the dislocation-zone complex, effectively diminishing the dislocation’s line tension. This reduction enhances the crystal’s plastic properties. Plastic instability commences once the zone’s negative energy surpasses that of the dislocation in absolute value. This chapter derives the temperature that dictates the onset of plastic instability, (Boulbitch and Korzhenevskii, First presented here.)
