Models of faults and methods of toleration of faults were presented in some detail and in concert. Classification of both enables to rigorously design system with adequate level of fault toleration. Fault appearance, manifestation and toleration should be considered and analysed as processes required to achieve high level of maintainability and system resilience. Some fault hierarchy is discussed arguing that toleration scheme must be designed to tolerate “the heaviest”.
