Online gambling addiction among young adults is a growing concern, due to easy accessibility and popularity of online gambling platforms. While these platforms offer entertainment, the excessive consumption of online gambling can lead to detrimental effects on mental health, financial stability, and overall well-being of the concerned individual. With a focus on the rising popularity of online gambling, the objectives of the research paper revolve around understanding the motivations, triggers, and rewards that drive young online gamblers to gamble more often, aiming to devise a non-restrictive solution that disrupts their habit loop. Various models such as Hook’s Model, Fogg’s Model, Habit loop and Theory of Planned Behaviour were used to study behavioural patterns of youngsters addicted to gambling. The study focused on individuals aged 18–30 well-aware of their gambling addiction, using simple random sampling, and snowball sampling for the research and usability study. The research was conducted in four phases, including primary and secondary research, data synthesis, conceptualisation, and design validation with prototypes. The novel solution, Ryze, is a unique narrative-driven app which helps inculcate responsible habits and collaborative gameplay, aiming to guide the users to take informed decisions while gambling. Personalised risk assessment, skill-based games, and emotional well-being practices address irresponsible gambling among young adults, offering a potential solution in the battle against addiction. This research highlights the triggers and risks of online gambling addiction, proposing Ryze as an innovative, non-restrictive solution, calling for awareness and proactive steps to address addictive gambling behaviours in today’s world.
