Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) create the essential conditions for new opportunities in education, better dissemination of information, as well as for the transformation of learning processes and pedagogical practices so that schools can respond effectively to environmental risks. This chapter aims to: (a) analyze the meaning and significance of the learning environment in a digital age, (b) examine the relationship between digital technologies and the learning process, emphasizing the importance of student engagement, (c) describe and analyze the use of ICT in the learning process on behalf of teachers, (d) clarify and emphasize the importance of the teacher being an integral and essential part of the learning process, (e) underline the importance of being digitally literate, and (f) analyze in detail the importance and key role of communication technologies in the educational and learning process.
