Galen, De Simplicibus from Byzantium to the Early-Modern World. A Difficult Assimilation?
摘要
This essay aims to provide an investigation into the form—or forms—of the Greek text of Galen, De simplicibus, that was known in the early modern world, with the channels through which it reached the early modern world from Byzantium, and its assimilation into contemporary materia medica. Most notably, it seeks to provide data on the different phases of its tradition, with a particular focus on the analysis of materia medica, the transition from the 15th and 16th centuries, and the assimilation of De simplicibus in the early modern world.
