Electronic garbage (e-waste) is one of the most pressing global issues of the twenty-first century. It is regarded as a rapidly expanding form of solid waste. According to forecasts, e-waste might reach 74 million tonnes. This study is motivated by the worrisome rate of e-waste growth and environmental harm. The review intended to investigate how e-waste is recycled in municipal landfills and suggest a remedy. The findings suggest that recycling workers in municipal landfills work under unsafe conditions. Most lack knowledge about the impact of e-waste on their health and environment. The study also noted that their trade is not registered or regulated. The recycling workers often sell their products to local scrap yards. Most of their work is to separate valuable components from e-waste before selling the salvaged parts. The study concludes that they must be educated on the environmental risks of e-waste. Informal recyclers can play an important role in transferring e-waste to formal recycling facilities. Local towns should register and enforce legislation governing informal recyclers to ensure that their trade is respected.
