Climate Change and Innovative Solutions for Drought and Desertification
摘要
Climate change, particularly in arid regions, has intensified drought and desertification, posing major challenges to ecosystems and human livelihoods. Mitigation requires advanced strategies focused on water conservation, sustainable land management, and soil restoration. Techniques such as redirecting river water to natural storage areas, harvesting rainwater, and traditional moisture retention methods can enhance soil water availability without disrupting ecosystems. Planting drought-tolerant species like Jatropha and adopting practices such as cover cropping and mulch farming improve soil structure and resilience against climate stress. Community engagement in sustainable practices is crucial to ensure the success of restoration projects. Although challenges remain, including political and socioeconomic barriers, integrated approaches combining community participation, governance, and scientific research offer promising pathways to promote eco-resilience and sustainable development in vulnerable regions.
