The concept of “hypersexuality” defines a psychological and behavioral alteration as a result of which sexual stimuli are sought inappropriately, often experienced without desire and intimate satisfaction. This is a psychopathological definition from the scientific community designed to replace terms previously used in other fields of study, such as nymphomania and satyriasis, the former referring to females and the latter to males (Bernorio R, Mori G, Casnici F, Polloni G.
