In this paper, we present and describe a new innovative platform designed and develop to combat the increasing effects of wildfires. The development of the platform reflects upon the need of the end users for adopting an interdisciplinary approach. The proposed platform brings together experience from experts with diverse backgrounds, such as information technology (IT), Geographical Information System (GIS), climate change researchers, foresters, firefighters, state authorities, municipalities, nature protection authorities and organizations, policy makers. The overall effectiveness of the platform has been demonstrated through dedicated pilot exercises that were carried out across nine (9) different pilot sites in several countries. The platform design considers the need for developing an integrated fire management (IFM) approach that will allow the stakeholders to take necessary interventions at every stage of wildfire management. The platform integrates 12 technologies, each of which corresponds to the interdisciplinary innovations.

摘要
