Clear Skies: The Role of UAVs in Sustainable Aviation
摘要
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly referred to as drones, are aircraft that operate without pilots or passengers. They are equipped with various devices, including video cameras, still cameras, laser scanning systems, and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System). UAVs can operate either remotely or autonomously, depending on their specific application or use case. They are utilized in numerous fields, including military and defence, agriculture, entertainment, delivery, construction, search and rescue operations, environmental monitoring, wildlife tracking, and law enforcement. Due to their widespread use, sustainability in UAVs is crucial for both the aviation industry and the environment. This paper analyses the materials and fuels used in UAVs and evaluates the impact of UAV applications in agriculture, transportation, and traffic monitoring on the sustainability of the aviation industry.
