This chapter focusses on the impact of the competition, at first between different artist organizations and, ultimately, between different artists on the paintings of this period. To differentiate themselves from their fellow artist competitors, painters created visual spectacles of immense proportions and maximum visual impact. Then, competition for attention switched from drama and size to style. This new arena would ultimately lead to the birth of abstractions and other categorization to define the newest novelty of the moment.
