The invention of blockchain technology was perceived as a game changer for conventional systems has been incorporated into the education sector. In this paper, the features of blockchain platforms in education are described. They are mainly distribution, validation, and safekeeping of academic credentials. With the help of blockchain technology, it will be possible to deeply change the structure of education and improve on its efficiency, security, and management. This paper’s main objective is to determine the factors that influence the performance improvements as a result of blockchain adoption in educational contexts. This paper starts with a thorough review of the existing literature on blockchain in education, discussing the benefits and existing applications. Thereafter, it proposes a conceptual framework with which the elements leading to performance enhancements due to adoption of blockchain are identified. The paper also describes the research methodology, a conceptual model and analysis that show how the factors described above affect performance improvements enabled by blockchain technology in education.
